The story of the flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh (page 29) is strikingly similar to "Noah and the Flood". The myths "Deucalion" and "Tata and Nena" on pages 64-65 are similar as well. In 3-5 paragraphs, compare and contrast the Hebrew account of the flood with any one of the other flood accounts you've read. Consider the following in your essay:
- What is the relationship between humanity and a supreme being in each account?
- How is each account about both destruction and rebirth?
- What cultural parallels might explain the existence of flood stories across unrelated cultures from different time periods from different parts of the world?
